Lip Plumpers
A non-surgical, temporary, risk-free* way to plump the lips. These potions come in gloss, cream, little gooey pots and also in stick form and usually work by slightly inflaming your lip mucosa so that it turns out and looks plump. These C frutescens containing products may tingle or create a mild to medium burning sensation. Cayenne contains a resinous and very pungent substance known as capsaicin.

Cinnamon Leaf Essential Oil: First let me say this is not its intended use and you must be careful using undiluted essential oils. Be sure if you try this at home you will have to start off with a very weak formulation. If you fail to do so you can cause burning of the tissue, peeling, dryness and other adverse reactions. Always spot test any products or home made products with essential oils. Please use caution and never apply essential oil directly to skin.
Cinnamons Leaf essential oil is often used in lip plumping glosses to increase blood flow and irritate the mucosa of the lips to temporarily plump and turn out the lips. Some visitors to the site, including myself, have used or regularly use a few drops of cinnamon leaf (not bark) oil mixed in with their regular lip gloss or mixed into home made lip glosses using concoctions of aloe, dimethicone, emu oil, jojoba oil, Aquaphor, etc. Some even add niacin (see below).
Just be sure to never, ever apply undiluted essential oils to your bare skin and to always test spot in an inconspicuous place to test for reactions. This is usually done by apply a small amount behind the ear or in the forearm, and allowing it to dry -- watch it for 24 hours and reapply and watch again. If no reaction is noticed (rash, hives, extreme redness, extreme burning, tenderness, difficulty breathing, etc.) you may be able to use the product. However, be advised cinnamon oil DOES tingle, create warmth and may sting a little so be careful at first. This irritation is what causes the plumping. Please use at your own risk.

My opinion: City Lips does plump without the tingling sensation you get with a lot of products. It also does make them pinker (the color I like) and not red or rosy. I am used it twice a day and noticed that the more I used it, the longer they stayed plump and the fuller they got. They looked slightly larger and definitely glossier, without that windburn, bee-stung look. However, if you do get it outside your vermilion it will make the skin look pink. Crystal Peel Lip Lift: I can find very little information on this product, but several websites claim that it increases lip volume by 40% indefinitely. I really don't know if I believe it is permanent considering the ingredients are very similar to many other new lip enhancers using the same tripeptide process. I can't find the manufacturer's information either.

EuroLipstyque: Reportedly developed by Amkat, Inc. in Boca Raton, Florida (561) 482-2398, this is a two step system similar to Sövage Transdermal Lip Plumper, this product uses a tenor and a transdermal lip enhancer. The lip photo from their site is also a pic used by Sövage & Lip Explosion ads, by Klein-Becker. The directions for use are very similar, as well.

"To my disappointment, I did not see any results using the Hard Candy Caffeine Lipstick. After a couple of minutes I felt a slight tingle and that was it. So far the best thing I have used (including everything on the review page mentioned) is Philosophy Kiss Me Red Lip Balm. The red tint to it enhances the color in your lips and the gloss makes your lips stand out even more. It is also pretty great because it really moisturizes. Goodbye Blistex Lip Tone. I also like the Nutra Lush (non-colored shade) by Avon to put on my lips at night. I apply it several times and I think it helps along with putting shea butter (pure) by JASON cosmetics. I bought a jar of it at the health food store. I am very tempted to buy the Lip Explosion but want to see what you think if it first.... if I can wait through tonight?? ha,ha! My opinion: I did use it and got very little immediate augmentation due to the menthol and niacin in it. Duwop is a company "owned by two Italian girls, based out of Los Angeles." Their products are very innovative and useful. I like the upbeat, honest appearance of their company, as well. Liquid Kiss Vial: Another one with Vitamin B6 derivative, benzyl nicotinate. I have heard the plumping from this product lasts about an hour, not 3 to 6.

I do know that estrogen creams inflate the lips, as does the presence of natural estrogen in the body. The ingredients however, are unknown to me. But more than likely contains L-arginine.

Niacin: (nicotinic acid a form of vitamin B3) This isn't a lip gloss, it is a supplement either in powder, pill or liquid form which causes flushing of the superficial capillaries of the skin. You may have taken Niacin supplements and noticed you began to tingle all over, flushed and felt itchy. Tanning "accelerators" have this in their lotions or in pill form, as do some spa masks for the body and face. It is also used in various lip plumping products featured on this page.
Some visitors have advised they have crushed up niacin supplemental tablets or used liquid niacin or niacinamide and added it to lip gloss or Aquaphor or other carriers. Niacin works by causing an increase in the natural rosy color of the lips and increases volume due to the dilation of the blood vessels. I have been told that the powdered or crushed tablet versions are difficult to dissolve due to the additives so liquid form or filtering the dissolved niacin from the pills, leaving the solids behind may be advisable.

My opinion: I once uses this product regularly. Sometimes I uses it with a little homemade lip gloss using cinnamon leaf oil heavily diluted by adding a few drops to a full tube of Wet n' Wild clear lip gloss. I have added the cinnamon leaf oil directly to an extra half empty tube of the PC lip enhancer as well. However, I can't legally recommend that YOU do it. It really plumps and seems to be my favorite thus far. Some say it lasts 2 hours, but I am a lip gloss freak so I apply it about every hour when I do use it. I wish it were a little less expensive, though. $45, on average, is a bit steep for no long-term plumping effects.

Sensual Lips (Toner & Enhancer): I haven't found too much on this product. It seems to be along the same line as Sövage Transdermal Lip Plumper, which I did not like. Here is what the advertisement says. If anyone has any input, please let me know. I just don't really think that a topical can "stimulate fat cells." Stimulate them to do what? Get bigger? Form new fat cells? Don't think so!

Signature Solutions Lip Plump: (technically: lip plumping solid stick) not too much info on this one this was reported to me by the same visitor who tried out Soylutions for us. She advised that she got Signature Solutions at Sally's Beauty Supply for $3.99 and said:
"This is a lip stick. I could see a slight difference. My lips felt like they were swollen but did not have the full plump look. Anyway, I will not return this product."

My Opinion: I was given the opportunity to try it and I used it for at least a month and experienced no augmentation at all. I did notice that it contains Lecithin, which is the same ingredient in their Tummy Flattening product. Lecithin is often used for fat loss, so I didn't understand why this ingredient would be included in a lip plumper. The color was a dark brown and it was goopy and smelly. I did like the lip primer however, which had a cinnamon taste to it. I did think that the Pre-application Astringent actually made my lips look smooth before I put the plumping gloss product on. It did help heal my chapped lips, but I didn't like the system overall. I would never buy it and can't recommend it.
